Alex just turned 40. Sorry for bringing it up, buddy, but it's kind of freaking me out. It just hit me when I was getting him a card. Oh my God, Alex is 40! One of us is actually 40. Then, I started thinking, oh my God, some of us are over 40!!! Then, I was listening to the Today show, and they were talking about mid-life crises, and how both men and women go through them, but they go through them in totally different ways. Women become introspective and reflect on their lives and what they have always wanted to do. Men have a strong desire for attention. I'm not making this up. That's what they said.
So, here are my questions: Is there really a difference? And, here's the big one...are any of you going through this now?

40 didn't bother me too much, neither did 41 or 42 (I'll let you know about 43). The big difference was when I turned 30 - boy did I have a pity party that lasted about a month. It was not pretty, let me tell you.
39 here don't think I've gone through any crisis.
I think I had a mini-crisis at 28. My mom died, and this led to a lot of reflection. I started taking better care of myself. Then, at around 37, my oldest was a senior, and my youngest started middle school. That wasn't easy. I thought way too much. But, I usually am stuck in my head all the time, so it really wasn't a crisis.
35 hit me pretty hard. didn't tell anyone, kept a low-pro for a while. Over it now and feeling better, much better--though the grays are really coming in--oh, well.
Hubby's going thru it now, and until this post came up, it never occured to me that it might be something MORE than him just "being a jerk"! Now I can blame it on being 42 and going thru his "time of the month"
I wouldn't know...hadn't turned 40 mentally yet...
Alex, I didn't know you were 40, I thought you were 30, cause I'm only 29!
